Certification under BS OHSAS 18001: 2007
Occupational Health and Safety Management System
BS OHSAS 18001 is a British standard that has gained wide popularity due to the fact that the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) lacks such a standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SRMS). It is applicable to different organizations, in any size and for each type of economic activity. It is particularly applicable to organizations with a high level of labor risk in their processes and a high rate of work-related traumatism.
The extent of application of OHSAS 18001 requirements depends on factors such as the assessed risks to the organization's health and safety, the nature of its activities, and the conditions under which it operates.
A certification audit is carried out in two stages and, upon successful completion, a certificate of compliance with a validity period of 3 years is issued. Supervisory audits are conducted in the second and third years.
